Inaugural Marion Resourcers Cohort Graduates!
Please Welcome Your New Fellow Volunteers
I'm beyond thrilled to welcome our first cohort of graduates from the Marion Resourcer program. The class produced 16 fabulous Resourcers (some not pictured) who are excited to get into community, their green teams, churches, and businesses to foster sustainable change!
This is a huge achievement for the program as we officially have begun offering trainings under the new Marion Resourcers Movement name. We held the Spring 2023 training at the newly renovated, LEED certified Salem YMCA downtown over 6 weeks (6 evening classes + a field trip Saturday). Participants learned about greenwashing, waste prevention, sustainable materials management, green behavior change, communications and social media campaigns, repair movement, food waste, and extended producer responsibility to name a few topics.
The field trip locations visited were Covanta, the new Marion Resource Recovery Facility construction and demolition center and Barnwood Naturals EarthWISE business.
If you see the new volunteers out and about during outreach, please say hi and get to know them, share your education tips, and ask them about how the program has changed. Thank you to everyone that has helped us transition the program to where it is today.
Website Coming Soon!
What to Expect
Marion Resourcers can expect a new website to be available in the coming months. The new website launch is exciting in that it will include a members login page where you can access hours reporting and tracking pages, newsletters, training presentations, and a volunteer event calendar. A one stop shop!
The site will also have a public facing side for recruitment and info on the program.
